Sayville, NY - September 22, 2016 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a limousine driver who drove drunk with a family he was hired to transport from John F. Kennedy International Airport to a residence in Sayville.

Michael Winn picked up five passengers, including a 22 month old boy, at John F. Kennedy International Airport and was driving a 2005 Lincoln limousine eastbound on Sunrise Highway, between Exit 49 and Exit 50 in Sayville, when he approached the scene of an unrelated crash at approximately 8:55 p.m. As traffic slowed, a driver traveling in front of the Lincoln alerted Highway Patrol Officer Thomas Joy that Winn was driving erratically and was possibly drunk driving. When Officer Joy, who was on foot, asked Winn to pull over, Winn drove away and fled. Winn pulled over approximately a half a mile away after the passengers yelled at him to stop and as additional Highway Patrol units approached the limousine.

Winn, the owner of East Islip based Crossroads Limo Service, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Resisting Arrest and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated; With a Child Passenger 15 Years or Younger (Leandra’s Law).

The child, his 30-year-old parents, and his grandparents, a 60 year-old male and 58-year-old female, were not injured.

Winn, 64, of East Islip, will be held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 21.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
