Written by Long Island News & PR  |  23. September 2016

Uniondale, NY - September 22, 2016 - The Uniondale School District recently held an orientation seminar to welcome more than 40 newly-hired teachers to the District. The new hires, who will be teaching a variety of subjects throughout the District, are part of an ongoing District initiative to offer programs and opportunities for every student to enhance the academic experience.

“We are excited to welcome several new teachers this year. The Uniondale School District is committed to providing a high-quality education to our students, and we are confident that this increase in our teaching staff will better support our students’ achievements,” said Uniondale School District Superintendent Dr. William K. Lloyd.

During the recent new teacher orientation, Uniondale School District administrators introduced the new teachers to the District’s new website and technology-driven grading system. Using the system, Uniondale parents can access grades in real time as teachers submit them, helping improve parent-teacher synergy, student support and the home-school connection.

According to the National Education Association, students with involved parents are more likely to earn higher grades and test scores, enroll in higher-level programs, pass their classes, attend school regularly, have better social skills, graduate on time and enroll in postsecondary education.

“By combining parents’ and teachers’ efforts, we can help motivate our ambitious student body and support them to leverage their educations and turn their dreams into realities,” said Dr. Lloyd. “The District is excited for the start of the 2016-2017 school year, and we look forward to helping every student achieve his or her potential.”
