Two Pedestrians Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash

Greenlawn, NY - September 21, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a man and a woman in Greenlawn last night.
 
Joanna Rigas, 80, and her husband, Andrew Rigas, 84, were walking southbound across Pulaski Road at the intersection of Shrine Place after attending the Greek Orthodox Fair at the Paraskavi Greek Orthodox Church when they were struck by a 2006 Kia Sedona minivan that was traveling eastbound on Pulaski Road at 10:10 p.m.
 
Both victims, who reside on Crystal Brook Hollow Road in Port Jefferson Station, were airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where they are listed in serious condition.
 
The driver of the Kia, Ralph Serpico, 82, and his wife, Rose Serpico, 79, of Greenlawn, were not injured.
 
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed this crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
