AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for the following counties... Suffolk...Nassau...Richmond...Kings...Queens...New York...Bronx...Wes chester...Rockland. from 11 AM this morning to 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone . The Air Quality Index...or AQI...was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value...the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated...the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young...and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. Suffolk County Police Issue Alert for Missing Lake Ronkonkoma Teen

SCPD are seeking Emily Higgins, 17, a missing Lake Ronkonkoma teen.

Holtsville, NY - Sept. 20, 2018 - The Suffolk County Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for a missing Lake Ronkonkoma teen who suffers from PTSD, depression and anxiety.
Emily Higgins, 17, was last seen at The Sequoia Charter School, located at 750 Waverly Ave. in Holtsville, on September 13 at approximately 11 a.m. Higgins is white, 5 feet 3 inches tall, approximately 195 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair. She has a pierced nose and multiple piercings in her ears. She was last seen wearing black leggings, a blue T-shirt and white Nike sneakers.
Higgins was believed to be in Manhattan on September 15 and could be in the Bronx or Staten Island. The New York Police Department has been notified.

As a reminder, Silver Alert is a program implemented in Suffolk County that allows local law enforcement to share information with media outlets about individuals with special needs who have been reported missing.
