Couple Busted in Uniondale Traffic Stop with Drugs, Firearm, According to Police

Uniondale, NY – September 20, 2017 – The First Squad reports the arrest of two individuals for Criminal Possession of Weapon that occurred on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 12:50 am in Uniondale.
 
According to detectives, two Bureau of Special Operations Officers while on routine patrol observed a brown 2017 Nissan Maxima stopped in the middle of the roadway, approximately 30 feet from a traffic light on Uniondale Avenue and Jerusalem Avenue. Officers also observed that the driver did not have on his seatbelt. 
 
A vehicle traffic stop was conducted and as officers approached, a strong odor of marijuana emanated from the automobile. During the investigation a clear plastic sandwich bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana was observed in plain view in the center console of the cup holder. A computer check of the driver Cordearo D. Thompson, 27, of Baldwin revealed that his license was suspended. Also during the investigation a small piece of aluminum foil containing a white rock like substance believed to be cocaine was recovered on the rear passenger seat of the vehicle. The driver and his passenger defendant Erica Clark, 30, of Roosevelt was placed under arrest. Subsequent to the arrest a fully loaded 14 round magazine with an extra round in the chamber and a black semi-automatic handgun with a defaced serial number were also recovered inside the vehicle.
 
Defendant Thompson is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree (Sub 1, 3, and 8), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Criminal Possession of Marijuana, Aggravated Unlicensed Operator 2nd Degree and Driving without a Seatbelt.  Defendant Thompson was also found to have 3 active Nassau County bench warrants and 2 active Nassau County arrest warrants.  Defendant Clark is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree (sub 3 and 8), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. They will be arraigned on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
