Cold Case Investigation on Death of 35-Year-Old Freeport Woman Thrown from Moving Vehicle Continues

Freeport, NY - September 13, 2016 - The New York State Police Troop L Major Case Unit continues to investigate the 2001 death of a woman in Nassau County.

Wyanda Williams, 35, of Freeport, was allegedly thrown from a moving motor vehicle on the Southern State Parkway in the early morning hours of September 9, 2001. 

On that date, the New York State Police were dispatched to the report of a body lying in the roadway of the Southern State Parkway in the area of Franklin Avenue in Nassau County.  Williams was struck several times by passing motorists, and the vehicle Ms. Williams was allegedly thrown from was never positively identified.  

An investigation revealed Williams lived just miles from the crime scene and frequented the Hempstead area of Long Island.  Very limited information is available about Williams’ family and friends.
