Homeless Man Arrested for Two Nassau Bank Robberies

East Meadow, NY - September 19th, 2014 - Robbery Squad detectives report the details of an arrest for two bank robberies that occurred in East Meadow and West Hempstead on Thursday, 09/18/14 at 12:50 P.M. and Tuesday, 09/09/14 at 1:52 P.M., respectively.

According to detectives, Thomas Donohue, 48, (no known address) entered TD Bank located at 1600 Hempstead Tpke., East Meadow, and verbally demanded money from a teller.  After the teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, the defendant fled on foot with the proceeds.  First Precinct Police officers located Donohue in front of 1 Reckson Plaza in Uniondale, where he was placed under arrest.  Proceeds from the robbery were recovered.  Additionally, detectives were able to connect Donohue to an additional bank robbery at Capital One Bank located at 611 Hempstead Tpke. in West Hempstead.

No injuries were reported.

Donohue is being charged with two counts of Robbery 3rd Degree and will be arraigned on Friday, 09/19/14 in First District Court, Hempstead.
