Two Police Officers Injured While Arresting Aggressive Uniondale Driver

Uniondale, NY - September 18, 2017 - The First Squad reports the arrest of a Uniondale man for Assault that occurred on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 6:55 p.m. in Uniondale.
 
According to Police, Patrol Officers attempted to conduct a car stop on a Black 2013 Honda traveling southbound on Chester St. in Uniondale for multiple VTL infractions. The subject refused to pull over and proceeded to drive aggressively while officers had their emergency lights engaged.The subject finally stopped his vehicle and officers conducted an investigation. The driver was identified as Andre Madden, 27.
 
During the investigation, Madden became uncooperative, confrontational and physical, striking both officers with elbows to their heads multiple times. The subject was eventually subdued and placed under arrest.
                 
One Officer suffered a laceration to his cheek and swelling about the face and head. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
                 
The second Officer suffered lacerations to both lips and pain to his face. He was treated at the scene. 
                 
The defendant was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
                 
The defendant was charged with Assault 2nd degree, Attempted Assault 3rd degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration, Harassment 2nd degree and Resisting Arrest as well as multiple VTL violations. The defendant was arraigned on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at First District Court, Hempstead.
