Mastic Beach, NY - September 18, 2014 - William Floyd High School seniors Brianna Balzano and Rebecca Engel have been recognized for musical excellence and named to the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State music ensemble performance annual Winter Conference held in Rochester, NY, from December 4-7, 2014. Balzano (Alto I) was selected to perform in the Mixed Chorus for the second straight year; and Engel (Soprano I) will perform in the Women’s Chorus.

“This is a tremendous honor and opportunity for our students to showcase their talents among the best in New York State,” said Ryan Feldscher, Lead Music Teacher, William Floyd School District.

Each spring, several thousand high school students from across New York State compete at NYSSMA for only 890 positions available in the eight All-State ensembles: Vocal Jazz, Instrumental Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, String Orchestra, Women’s Chorus, Mixed Chorus, Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra. Congratulations to the students and their teachers, Barbara D’Orio and Ryan Feldscher, for their guidance in helping these very talented students achieve this great honor.
