Next Phase of Patchogue Parking Meter Plans to be Detailed Monday, September 22
Patchogue, NY - September 18, 2014 - David Kennedy, Executive Director, of the Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, has released the following statement:
Patchogue Village Deputy Mayor Jack Krieger has informed me that they will be presenting details of the next phase of Parking Meters for our downtown parking lots at the next Village Board Meeting, this Monday, September 22. The Meeting begins at 6 PM.
As has been previously reported, the Village plans to meter areas in the downtown parking lots. These meters will be placed within the next few weeks. Since that time, after working with the Chamber and listening to our downtown merchants, the Village is adjusting their original plans and meters in the lots will only be in effect after 5 PM. Specific details about what spots will be metered will be presented at this Monday's meeting.
Another welcome change to parking meters is that the Village will be suspending metered parking on East Main Street between Maple and Rider Avenues. Further, those meters placed in that area will be moved closer to the central business district as a way to increase the number of meters in the area where the greatest demand exists. Further, is important to please still keep in mind that when all meters are finally installed, about 65% of all downtown parking will remain free.
