Queens Man Arrested for Defrauding Victims at Hempstead Bus Terminal
Hempstead, NY - September 16, 2014 - The Crimes Against Property Squad reports the arrest of a Queens’s man on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 2:47 p.m. in Hempstead.
According to detectives, while posing as an employee of the Bethpage Credit Union, Dominick Stewart, 25 of 130th Avenue would engage his victims in conversation at the Hempstead Bus Terminal with the promise of employment at the bank. Stewart gave the victims a check to deposit into their personal checking accounts as a part of the job application process. The victims would then in turn withdraw an undisclosed amount of cash to be given back to Stewart. The victims were later notified by their bank the checks were returned for insufficient funds. The Hempstead Police, Nassau County Third Squad and CAP Squad detectives conducted an investigation which resulted in the arrest of Stewart in Hempstead.

Stewart is charged with three counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree, three counts of Petit Larceny and one count of False Personation. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
