Cops: Two Queens Men Arrested After Attempting to Burglarize North New Hyde Park Residence

The Third Squad reports the arrest of two Queens men for an Attempted Burglary that occurred in North New Hyde Park.
 
According to detectives, Third Precinct officers responded to a 911 call for a Burglary in progress. Upon arrival police were met by homeowners who stated they had received a motion alert on their video camera and observed two people walking up their driveway. The homeowner went outside and saw a subject attempting to open a house window. The homeowner screamed at the subjects who fled the scene in a Green Jeep Cherokee. 
 
While canvassing for the vehicle officers observed it traveling westbound on Jericho Turnpike and attempted to stop the vehicle. The defendants refused to stop and eventually fled on foot from the vehicle on the Cross Island Parkway service road in the vicinity of 91st street. With the assistance of The Nassau County K-9 Unit, officers conducted a search of the area and located the two subjects and placed them into custody without incident. No injuries were reported. The vehicle the defendants were driving was a stolen vehicle.
 
The defendants, Takyler Jackson, 18, and a 16 year old, male juvenile are both charged with Attempted Burglary 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny 4th Degree and Petit Larceny. They were both arraigned at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
