Kew Gardens Man Charged With Robbing Two Suffolk County Banks, SCPD Reports

Suffolk County, NY - September 15, 2017 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a man for robbing two banks earlier this year.
Major Case Unit detectives, with the assistance of Port Authority Police Detectives and Jet Blue security, have arrested Michael Hantzidiamantis, for the robbery of Capital One bank in Bohemia, New York, on August 24 and the People's United Bank in Centereach, New York, on September 8.
"Twenty-one out of 23 bank robberies in Suffolk County have been cleared due to the excellent police work of the Suffolk County Police Department, particularly through the use of fingerprint analysis by the Identification Section and outstanding investigative work by the Major Case Unit," Police Commissioner Timothy D. Sini said. "Our message to criminals is if you rob a bank in Suffolk County, you will not pass go, you will not collect the money, and you will go directly to jail."
Hantzidiamantis, 40, of Kew Gardens, New York, was arrested at John F. Kennedy Airport today. He was charged with two counts of Robbery 3rd Degree. Hantzidiamantis is being held at the Fifth Precinct in Patchogue, New York, and was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip, New York, on September 14.  
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
