Hope for Youth, a private, non-profit, social service agency that facilitates positive change in the lives of children, youth, and families in Suffolk County, will host its annual "Run for Hope 5K" on Saturday, October 1 at 9:00am at Heckscher State Park in East Islip.

Participants in the event, which will take place rain or shine, are invited to run, walk, or volunteer to raise funds for services in support of the organization’s Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter program.

Awards will be given in male and female categories within seven age groups ranging from 16 and younger to 71 and older.

“The volunteers and staff of Hope For Youth do outstanding work on behalf of our community’s young people,” said Dr. David J. Hegarty, Executive Director of Hope for Youth. “The 'Run for Hope 5K' allows everyone to advance our important programming in a fun, outdoor setting. It’s a great way to build support.”

Hope For Youth is offering a Virtual Option alternative for those not taking part in the "Run for Hope 5K" in person. Those choosing the Virtual Option may participate between October 1 and October 9. Details can be found on the event website at www.events.elitefeats.com/22runforhope.
