Former Nassau County Film Commissioner's Feature Film Streaming on Prime Video

Former Nassau County Film Commissioner Debra Markowitz who left County employ in December of 2020 to pursue a full-time filmmaking career, is excited to have her first feature, The Only Woman in the World, streaming on Prime Video.
 
“It took a village and a whole lot of help to bring this low-budget independent feature film to completion,” states Markowitz. Markowitz and her business partner and husband, John Marean, co-run Intention Films and Media LLC.
 
Utilizing all Nassau County locations and mostly Long Island actors and crew, it was a long journey taking almost three years to complete between writing and final edit.
 
“When you don’t have a real budget, you depend on a lot of help from your friends. While the actors gladly jumped on, we had to work with their schedules as they are all working actors with other jobs to attend to.”
 
The Only Woman in the World is a story about an up-and-coming film director who strikes up a friendship with an actor who may not have her best interests at heart. When her relationship with her life partner starts to falter, she must decide which relationship is worth saving.
 
The lead actors in the film are Bianca Jamotte LeRoux of Mineola, Chris Cardona of Wantagh, and former Broadway Phantom of the Opera, Ciaran Sheehan from New Jersey. Supporting roles include Brian O’Halloran (Clerks I, II, and III), Abigail Hawk (Blue Bloods), Kevin Dotcom Brown (30 Rock), Artie Pasquale (The Sopranos), Evelyn Howe (SMILF), Anthony Grasso (Jessica Jones), and Sal Rendino (Billions). Nicolette Mango from St James plays Cardona’s daughter.

Coming up next for Intention Films and Media is a fundraising screening of the first two episodes of Debra’s series, Couple of Guys, on September 19 at the historic Bellmore Movies. Couple of Guys is a 10-episode, award-winning LGBTQIA+ series, and they are raising money for the fourth episode and beyond. The series stars Lukas Hassel (The Blacklist), Sal Rendino (Billions), Abigail Hawk (Blue Bloods), Ciaran Sheehan (Broadway’s Phantom of the Opera), Kevin Brown (30 Rock), Brian O’Halloran (Clerks I, II, and III), Deborah Twiss (Kick-Ass) and Noelle Yatauro from Glen Cove and will have other guest stars throughout.
