Medford Man Arrested for Stealing Items To Sell for Scrap, According to Officials

SCPD have arrested Daniel Labbe of Medford, 37, for multiple charges relating to the theft of items to be scrapped.

Selden, NY - September 13, 2017 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a Medford, New York man for multiple charges relating to the theft of items to be scrapped during the past two months.
 
Sixth Precinct Officer Gerard Marino arrested Daniel Labbe as he was in the process of cutting a catalytic converter off a 2006 Ford box truck in a parking lot on Middle Country Road in Selden on September 7. Labbe was charged with Auto Stripping 2nd Degree, Possession of Burglar Tools and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree.
 
Further investigation by officers and detectives from the Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Precincts and the Property/Auto Crime Unit, led Labbe to be charged on September 11 with 14 counts of Petit Larceny, two counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree, and one count each of Burglary 3rd Degree, Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Auto Stripping 2nd Degree. All crimes involved the theft of catalytic converters, wire and tools.
 
Labbe, 37, was arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
