Jake's 58 Reopens With Limited Capacity, New COVID-19 Safety Measures

Written by Lon Cohen  |  11. September 2020

Last week, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that starting September 9 casinos would be able to open at 25% occupancy. In order to get back to business, casinos must adhere to strict safety protocols, including enhanced air filtration, ventilation and purification standards in place in order to open.

On Long Island, Jake's 58 in Islandia reopened at 8am on Wednesday, the first day it was allowed.

They announced the opening saying that they will have a reduced number of active video gaming machines at least 6 feet apart and employees and guests required to wear face coverings. A number of other changes will be implemented to make sure COVID-19 standards are met including the elimination of valet parking, coat check, scooter rentals and wheelchair availability.

Reduced food and beverage options will be available. Per the state’s guidelines, there will be no beverage service or food and beverage allowed on the gaming floor.

The casino had been closed since mid-March due to the pandemic.

A reopening date for the hotel attached to Jake’s 58 is still to be determined.
