Legislators Anker and Fleming Honor Advocate for the Visually Impaired at Suffolk County Legislature Meeting
Hauppauge, NY - Sept. 10, 2018 - On Wednesday, September 5th, Suffolk County Legislators Sarah Anker and Bridget Fleming presented Michael A. Jordan with a proclamation for his work for Long Island’s blind and visually impaired community. Mr. Jordan manages two non-profit organizations, as the CEO of Braille Talks and the President and Vice-Chairman of Visually Impaired Persons of Suffolk (VIPS). Braille Talks is dedicated to helping the blind and visually impaired reach their full potential through social interaction and promotes charities such as food and toy drives. VIPS aims to empower the blind and/or visually impaired by encouraging self-reliance and independence. VIPS will be holding its annual Dinner in the Dark Benefit on October 14 at 4:30 pm at the Brentwood Country Club and encourages residents to attend to understand the challenges faced by the visually impaired.
“Michael is a shining example of the good that people can do for those in need in our community,” said Legislator Anker. “He has used his position and experience to create a support system for our blind and visually impaired residents of Suffolk County, and I wholeheartedly thank him for his dedicated work.”
