Port Washington-based Systemax said that Global Industrialits industrial products distribution company, has opened a distribution center in Texas to grow its nationwide operations.

The company said opened the 500,000-square-foot center in DeSoto, Texas, in the Dallas metropolitan area, which would let it increase “service levels to customers in the Southwest United States and provide additional capacity to support… continued growth.”

“We have generated strong organic growth that has generally outpaced most of our peers in the industry for several years,” Systemax CEO Barry Litwin said. “The additional capacity this distribution center provides will allow us to efficiently support our continued expansion.”

COO Ritesh Chaturbedi said the facility “strengthens our national distribution network” and improves same day shipping and next day delivery to the Southwest United States.

Global Industrial operates seven distribution centers totaling 2.5 million square feet, serving customers across the United States and Canada.

The centers are located in Buford, Georgia; Robbinsville, New Jersey; Las Vegas, Nevada; Dallas, Texas; Pleasant Prairie, Wis., and in Calgary and Toronto, Canada.
