The development of a property on the corner of Old Country Road and Mill Road in Riverhead has been on the table since at least 2019, according to public records. The application for the 7-acre site called for a new retail center consisting of 45,487-square-feet of assorted development, some of which would be retail space.

At the August 18, 2022 Riverhead Town planning board meeting, the plan was back on the agenda with the developers seeking approval to develop the parcel with a 5,855-square-foot Chic-fil-A restaurant with drive-thru and outdoor patio seating, a 2,560-square-foot building proposed for a Jimmy John’s restaurant and Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants with drive-thru windows, a 2,600-square-foot restaurant with an as-of-yet unidentified tenant, and a 6,400-square-foot sit down restaurant.

The previous site plan also called for two new curb cuts with ingress/egress on Mill Road, and ingress from Old Country Road for westbound traffic, and an egress onto Old Country Road for westbound traffic, as well as lighting, landscaping, parking, and drainage improvements.
