Bay Shore, NY - Sept. 6, 2018 - Suffolk County Police on Wednesday, September 5 arrested a man in Bay Shore for driving while intoxicated with his girlfriend’s six-year-old son in the vehicle.
 
Salvador Guevara-Lopez was operating a 2003 Nissan Altima southbound in the northbound lane of Fifth Avenue near the intersection of Brook Avenue in Bay Shore when he was pulled over by a Highway Enforcement Section officer at 9:37 p.m.
 
Guevara-Lopez, 47, of Bay Shore was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years or Younger (Leandra’s Law), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The child was released into the custody of his mother. The car was impounded for evidence.
 
Guevara-Lopez is being held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned this morning at First District Court in Central Islip.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
