Nassau County Conducts Emergency Volunteer Training September 21st

Merrick, NY - September 5, 2014 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announces a comprehensive hands-on emergency volunteer training session will be held Sunday, September 21st at 4 Towns Fireman Training Center located at 1650 Merrick Road in Merrick.

The Nassau County Citizen Corps Training Exercise which runs from 8 a.m. through 2 p.m. is open to any local CERT volunteers and amateur radio operators who would be activated in a declared emergency, scout volunteers are encouraged to participate in the training as well. The Training exercises include message running, equipment distribution, establishing training stations, and caring for victims.

County Executive Mangano urges volunteers to attend the session. “The Nassau County Citizen Corps Training program provides our dedicated volunteers with basic instructions on how to be an effective emergency volunteer,” stated County Executive Mangano. “All Participants will learn through hands-on methods how to respond and perform in real life situations.”
