Rocky Point Man Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash in Central Islip

Central Islip, NY - September 5th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a passenger and injured the driver and another passenger early this morning.

Ulices Canessa Villatoro, 19, was driving a 2005 Acura TL southbound on Lowell Avenue when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and struck several trees on the side of the road on Lowell Avenue in Central Islip at 12:02 a.m. A passenger, Andrew O’Connor, 18, of Rocky Point, who was sitting in the rear driver’s side of the vehicle, was critically injured and transported to Southside Hospital via ambulance where he died from his injuries.

Canessa Villatoro, of Islip Terrace, and George Shody, 17, of Islip Terrace, who was a rear seat passenger, were also transported to Southside Hospital. Canessa Villatoro, 19, was treated for a fractured arm and possible fractured hip. Shody, of Islip Terrace, was treated for back injuries. Joel Fernandez, 18, of Islip Terrace, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was uninjured in the crash.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
