Authorities: Driver Arrested After Striking Teenage Pedestrian In East Northport

East Northport, NY - Sept. 4, 2018 - Suffolk County Police today arrested an East Norwich woman following a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a teenager in East Northport on Tuesday, September 4.
 
A 14-year-old Northport male was walking westbound on Laurel Hill Road, east of Elwood Road, when he was struck by a 2005 Honda sedan traveling eastbound at 8:06 a.m.
 
The teen was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Janet Aliperti, the driver of the Honda, was not injured.
 
Second Squad detectives charged Aliperti, 57, with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, Operation While Registration is Suspended and Uninsured Vehicle.
 
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
