Legislator Anker Joins Suffolk Community College Foundation to Honor John C. Gallagher

Commack, NY - September 4, 2015 - Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker attended the Suffolk County Community College 32nd Annual Golf Classic on Monday, August 24th. The event, organized by the nonprofit Suffolk Community College Foundation, was held at the Hamlet Golf and Country Club in Commack and honored retired Suffolk County Police Commissioner John C. Gallagher.

“I am proud to honor John Gallagher for his service and dedication to Suffolk County,” said Legislator Anker.

John C. Gallagher headed the 12th largest urban police department in the nation, with over 2,800 officers under his command for seven years. Before his appointment as commissioner, John was the Assistant Deputy County Executive from 1992 to 1997. John retired as commissioner in 2004, but has continued being an asset to the community through his service with the Red Cross.

The Suffolk Community College Foundation is a nonprofit organization, founded in 1989 to provide better access to higher education and foster success for Suffolk County’s students.
