September 4, 2013 - After months in the planning and design stage, Long Island Cares, Inc. will debut their new website on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. The new site at www.licares.org features more than 70 pages of information about the organization's programs including the Harry Chapin Food Bank, Kids Cafes, Mobile Outreach Services, Baxter's Pet Pantry, Veterans Project, and Advocacy activities.

The new Long Island Cares, Inc. website also features numerous photos, news articles, facts about hunger and food insecurity on Long Island, a timeline of the organization's history and accomplishments, and a direct link to food pantries and hunger assistance programs in Nassau and Suffolk County, which also provides visitors with a map and directions.

Among other highlights of the new website is a corporate spotlight detailing local business support for the regional food bank. Several headlines and photos periodically change to shift the focus of visitors to special events or specific programs and services. There is also an extensive calendar of events and food drive listing available for visitors wishing to participate, as well as opportunities to volunteer in the fight against hunger on Long Island.

The website was designed by Austin & Williams of Hauppauge and Long Island Cares is planning a series of events from September through December to both roll out and promote the new website.

"We are proud to work with an organization like Long Island Cares Inc., The Harry Chapin Food Bank," explains Elaina Beato, Account Supervisor at Austin & Williams. "The inspirational hope that they bring to our local communities should be shared and celebrated. We believe the new website design will help do that, with simplified navigation, highlights of their incredible programs, as well as the events and corporate partners they work with in our community. Among my favorite features on the Long Island Cares website are the "Our Legacy" timeline which profiles the rich history of the organization, and the search by zip code food locator, making it easier for people to find food panties and soup kitchens."
