Leandra’s Law Arrest in Lindenhurst

Lindenhurst, NY - September 2, 2013 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives arrested a Lindenhurst man last night for driving while intoxicated with his two-year-old son in the vehicle.

First Precinct police officers responded to a 911 call about a domestic dispute on East Merritt Street in Lindenhurst and they were advised that Gilbert Lopez-Silvero had left the location with his two-year-old son in the car and that he was possibly intoxicated.

Lopez-Silvero, 38, returned a short time later driving his 2013 Dodge Durango with his son in the vehicle and he was subsequently arrested and transported to the First Precinct. Lopez-Silvero was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), Driving While Intoxicated and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Lopez-Silvero is being held at the First Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment today at First District Court in Central Islip.
