NCPD: Fatal Accident in Bellmore
Bellmore, NY - August 31, 2014 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred in Bellmore on Sunday, 08/31/14 at 12:13 P.M.
According to detectives, a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling westbound on Merrick Rd., was in collision with a 2011 Mazda SUV who had been traveling eastbound on Merrick Rd. and making a left turn into the shopping center at Winthrop Ave.
Bellmore Fire Department Ambulance transported the male driver, 34, of the motorcycle to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:42 P.M. by a staff physician. The female driver of the Mazda, 35, and her passenger sustained no injuries. The identification of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
Detectives report no apparent criminality at this time. Both vehicles were impounded from the scene for brake and safety checks.
