Massage Therapist Arrested for Sexually Abusing Customer, SCPD Says

Bayport, NY - August 29, 2018 - Suffolk County Police on Tuesday, August 28, arrested a massage therapist for sexually abusing a customer at a Bayport day spa earlier this month.
 
A 34-year-old woman was getting a massage at Karasmatic Day Spa, located at 861 Montauk Highway, on August 12 when she was inappropriately touched by the massage therapist, Matthew Widener.
 
Fifth Squad detectives charged Widener, 33, of Farmingville, with Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
 
Detectives are asking anyone who may have been a victim of Widener, who is a licensed massage therapist and has since been terminated by his employer, to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven
guilty.
