Legislator Anker Honors NY Sportscene Children’s Foundation

Smithtown, NY - August 29, 2018 - On Monday, August 27th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker attended the New York Sportscene Children’s Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic at Stonebridge Golf Links and Country Club in Smithtown. The event raised money to benefit the foundation as well as honor the organization’s 2018 Hero Award recipient Steven A. Castleton and 2018 Outstanding Women  Honorees. Legislator Anker presented all award recipients with certificates thanking them for the work they do in providing important resources to residents of all ages across Suffolk County.
 
“Thank you to the Sportscene Children’s Foundation for recognizing the work done by Steven Castleton and the eight outstanding women honorees,” said Legislator Anker. “We appreciate all that these individuals have done to benefit the citizens of Suffolk County.”
 
The 2018 Outstanding Women Honorees were: Elizabeth Hasagen of News 12 Long Island; Andrea Massop Ramos of Healthy Friendz; Ashley Asti of Brittney’s Basket’s of Hope; Maria A. Follenius of Shriners Hospitals for Children; Karen Vito of Hair We Share; Theresa Campbell of Thomasville Furniture and the Lustgarten Foundation; Lidia Szczepanowski, Esq of the National Organization of Women’s Safety Awareness, Inc.; and Reverend Patty Furino of Angel of Hope.
 
The case was prosecuted by MFCU Special Assistant Attorney General Brandon L. Phillips, with the assistance of Confidential Legal Assistant Victoria Sepe, MFCU NYC Deputy Regional Director Twan V. Bounds, and MFCU NYC Regional Director Christopher M. Shaw. Thomas O’Hanlon is the MFCU Chief of Criminal Investigations-Downstate. The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is led by Director Amy Held and Assistant Deputy Attorney General Paul Mahoney. The Criminal Justice Division is led by Executive Deputy Attorney General Margaret Garnett.
