Freeport, NY - August 29, 2016 - Freeport Village Mayor Robert Kennedy and Police Officials will join children in a press conference Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 1pm at Moxey Rigby Housing Complex Merrick Road between Buffalo and Albany Avenue in Freeport to announce a ticketing campaign for children that do good deeds.

In ''Operation Chill'' over 800  law enforcement agencies across the nation partner with 7-Eleven to issue "tickets" in the form of coupons for free slurpees. Law enforcement officers from participating local police and sheriff departments “ticket” youngsters who are caught in random acts of kindness and good deeds during the summer and back-to-school season.

Appropriate offenses include helping another person, picking up litter, wearing proper safety gear or any act of good will. These tickets give law enforcement officers a positive reason to interact with children and teens in their communities and serve as incentive that reinforce positive behavior.

Operation Chill was developed to encourage good behavior by kids during the summer months when communities often experience and increase in juvenile crime. Since it's start in 1995, more than 10 million ''Operation Chill'' tickets have been distributed by law enforcement agencies across the country.
