What was he trying to do? Cory Macellaro was looking to break the Guinness World Record for the most alternating one-handed claps in one minute.

 

To achieve his goal, Macellaro, performed 853 claps in one minute, translating to over 14 claps per second. The feat was captured on audio and video. According to Guinness, it could take as long as 12 weeks to review the attempt and officially declare Cory the current record holder.

 

The alternating one-handed claps were counted by slowing down the audio and video and reading the waveform. The number was triple checked using different methods. Brookhaven Town Councilwoman Jane Bonner was on hand to witness the attempt by Macellaro.

 

“This was my first time serving as a witness to a Guinness World Record attempt and I must say it was very exciting to be a part of Cory’s big day,” she said.
