Suffolk Officials Say Man Shot During Argument at Dix Hills Party

Dix Hills, NY - August 27, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred during a party in Dix Hills on Saturday, August 25.
 
Second Precinct officers responded to a 911 report of a man shot at a residence on Langhans Court at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 25. A party was being held at the residence, with approximately 400 people in attendance. A verbal argument took place between people at the party. At some point during the argument, a person fired at least one round from a gun. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a large crowd of people fighting outside the premises. Due to the large number of people involved, additional officers from various precincts were called to the scene to restore order. 
 
A 34-year-old man was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his arm.
 
The homeowner, Rodney Jones, 45, was arrested and charged with Criminal Nuisance 2nd Degree. Travis James, 36, of Brooklyn and Shamel Williams, 35, of Brooklyn were arrested and charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. The three men are being held at the Second Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 26.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
