Seaford, NY - August 27th, 2014 - The Highway Patrol Bureau reports arrest of a Manhattan woman for driving while intoxicated, with her two children in the vehicle, and leaving the scene of an accident which occurred on Tuesday, 08/26/14 at 3:10 P.M.

Police report that at approximately 3:05 P.M., Megan Pieroni, 38, of East 50th St., was operating a 2008 Jeep Cherokee southbound on the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway at exit 12 in Plainview, when she was involved in a non-injury auto accident in which she left the scene.  A short time after that accident, she was involved in a second auto accident with minor injury (victim refused medical attention), at exit 7, when she again fled the scene.  As she continued southbound, still on the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway, she eventually lost control, at approximately 3:10 P.M., struck a guardrail on the shoulder and overturned the vehicle, in the vicinity of exit 3 in Seaford

Upon their arrival, Highway Patrol officers detected the odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath, along with slurred speech and red bloodshot eyes. The defendant was administered a PBT at the scene with a positive result.  The defendant, along with her 5-year-old son and 10-month-old daughter, were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The children, one of which suffered a minor arm injury, were later released from the hospital into the care of family members.  The defendant, who suffered an arm injury, remained in the hospital for observation.

Pieroni is being charged with DWI, two counts of Aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law), two counts of Endangering Welfare of a Child, and Leaving Scene of an Accident.  She will be arraigned when practical.
