Westbury Woman Charged with Attempted Murder After Stabbing Acquaintance, Officials Say

The Nassau County Police Department reports the Arrest of a Westbury woman for Attempted Murder that occurred on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 5:36 p.m. in Roosevelt.
 
According to police, units responded to a radio assignment on Oswalt Place where they discovered a 30 year old male victim suffering from a stab wound to his upper torso. The defendant, Tyana Cooper Waite, 26, who was known to the victim, was located at her residence and taken into custody without incident. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
 
The defendant had her three year-old daughter with her at the time of the incident.
 
Tyana Cooper Waite is charged with Murder (Attempt) 2nd degree, Tampering With Physical Evidence, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She was arraigned at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
