Suffolk County SPCA Seeks Information From Public About Dead Dog in Central Islip

Central Islip, NY - August 25, 2015 - The Suffolk County SPCA is seeking information from the public about a dead dog that was found in Central Islip.

Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA said that the partially covered body was found near the intersection of Ferndale Blvd. and Coconut St. in Central Islip on Sunday August 23rd. The dog was white and appeared to be a Poodle-mix. Gross said that the dog's body was taken to Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island in West Islip.  The Veterinarian who examined the body did not believe it was hit by a motor vehicle. She did not rule out blunt force trauma. X-rays were performed and a fracture of the right femoral neck was found. The DVM believes dog is a young adult.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
