Goldman Sachs Executive Accused of Raping 20-Year-Old Woman in East Hampton Home
A Goldman Sachs executive has been accused of raping a 20-year-old woman in the Clover Leaf Lane, East Hampton home he rented with his wife. Jason Lee, 37, a managing director for Goldman Sachs since 1998, has been charged with first-degree-rape and was arrested Wednesday morning.
Officers were tipped off to the alleged sexual assault on Tuesday morning at 6:37 a.m. when East Hampton town police responded to a disturbance call in the home. An unknown police source is reporting that the alleged assault may have happened on Monday or Tuesday night during a nude pool party.
While in court Lee was joined by his wife and family. According to his attorney, Edward Burke Jr., he “adamantly denied” the allegations of sexual assault brought up against him. Lee’s currently charged with first-degree-rape and his bail was set to $20,000. The money was posted immediately after the family went into a side courtroom and handed clerks a manilla folder filled with the $20,000 bail.
Lee was released from the East Hampton Justice Court holding cell after courtroom clerks double checked the amount of money in the folder. He’s taking a leave of absence from his duties as managing director for Goldman Sachs and is currently awaiting his September 19 court date in a Riverhead criminal court.
Lee’s lawyer never admitted his client worked for Goldman Sachs in court but instead just said the address of the building. It was confirmed by a receptionist that he worked as a managing director for the famous investment banking firm.
