This week, Congressman Tom Suozzi (D – Long Island, Queens) presented more than $761 million in “checks,” as part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding, to the Town Supervisors and Mayors of municipalities from the Town of North Hempstead, Town of Oyster Bay, Town of Huntington, Town of Smithtown, and the City of Glen Cove. The “checks” represent the funding that each municipality has begun to receive through the $2.2 billion allotted to the 62 counties across New York State through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), passed by Congress and signed into law by President Biden in March.

 

“As a former Mayor and County Executive, I know how important it is to these municipalities that they receive this funding. It is for this reason that I fought so hard to deliver this relief to our state, counties, towns, villages, and all of the people within these communities,” said Suozzi.

 

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, Suozzi has been a fierce advocate for federal relief for state and local governments. The counties, towns, city, and villages within the 3rd Congressional District are slated to receive more than $761,261,000 in ARP funding. These funds will give these municipalities the resources they need to help replace lost revenue and strengthen support for vital public services.

 

The municipalities received the first tranche of the funds earlier this summer; the second tranche will be sent next year.

 

Suffolk County is to receive $286,812,434 in ARPA funding. Of that amount, the Town of Huntington is to receive $22,209,010, with the villages of Asharoken, Huntington Bay, Lloyd Harbor, and Northport to receive a combined total of $1,329,338.
