SPCA Detectives Charge Brentwood Woman with Starving Sick Dog for Days

On Tuesday,  August 20, 2019,  Suffolk County SPCA Detectives charged a Brentwood woman with cruelty to animals.
 
Crystal Booker, 26, of Brentwood, was charged with one count of failure to provide proper sustenance including food, water and veterinary care to her senior pit bull named Grumpy. The dog was left for several days in the yard of a Middle Island home, unable to stand or walk, with open sores and untreated infections. Grumpy was left in direct sun with no shelter or water. The dog was removed and transported to Brookhaven Shelter.
 
Booker is schedule to appear in First District Court on October 22, 2019.  
 
Chief Gross said that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County. If you witness any incident of animal cruelty or neglect in Suffolk County please contact the Suffolk County SPCA at (631) 382-7722. All calls will be kept confidential.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
