NCPD: Bethpage Fire Department Member Arrested for Starting Multiple Fires Throughout Bethpage

Bethpage, NY - August 20, 2018 - The Arson Bomb Squad reports the arrest of a Bethpage man for multiple Arsons that occurred in Bethpage.
 
According to detectives, Christopher Cordeiro, 20, and a member of the Bethpage Fire Department, was found to be responsible for the following arsons after the Arson Bomb Squad conducted an investigation.
 
  • June 25, 2017 – Across from 25 Arthur Avenue – Molotov cocktail fire in a sump
  • March 1, 2018 – 67 West Millpage Drive – Dumpster fire
  • August 5, 2018 – 285 Stewart Avenue – Abandoned house fire
  • August 10, 2018 – Next to 96 Broadway – Wooded area fire
  • August 19, 2018 – 121 North Hermann Avenue – Shed fire
Christopher Cordeiro was placed under arrest without incident at the Bethpage Fire House located at 5 Union Avenue.
 
The Defendant, Christopher Cordeiro, is charged with Arson 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Arson 4th Degree and two (2) counts of Arson 5th Degree.  He will be arraigned on Monday, August 20, 2018 in First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
