2 Year-Old Drowns in East Islip Backyard Pool, According to Authorities
East Islip, NY - August 20, 2018 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the drowning death of a 2-year-old girl in East Islip on Friday, August 17.
Third Precinct officers responded to a residence on Percy Williams Drive at approximately 5:50 p.m. after a woman called 911 to report that she pulled her 2-year-old granddaughter, Galaxy Belenger, from the home’s inground pool and she was not breathing. The grandmother performed CPR until officers and rescue personnel arrived.
The toddler was transported by Islip Exchange Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead.
