Driver Stopped by Police Arrested for Criminal Impersonation in Lake Success

Lake Success, NY - August 19, 2016 - The Highway Patrol Bureau reports the arrest of a Queens Village man for Criminal Impersonation of a Police Officer that occurred on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 2:04 a.m. in Lake Success.

According to police, a Highway Patrol officer observed Gurpreet Singh, 34 of Queens Village operating 2013 Infinity southbound on Community Drive failing to maintain his lane. The officer was able to stop the vehicle on the ramp entering the Long Island Expressway. During the investigation Singh told the officer multiple times that he was a police officer and showed a mini badge. The officer had Singh exited the vehicle to continue the investigation. While questioning the defendant he attempted to grab the officer’s gun two times at which time he was placed under arrest.

Singh is charged with Criminal Impersonation 2nd degree, Obstructing Government Administration, Driving While Intoxicated, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations. He will be arraigned on Friday, August 19, 2016 at First District Court in Hempstead.
