Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Lake Grove Motor Vehicle Crash

Lake Grove, NY - August 18, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that critically injured a motorcyclist who drove into the back of a pick-up in Lake Grove this morning.
 
Mark Ammirati was traveling westbound on Middle Country Road, approaching the intersection at Hawkins Avenue, when he crashed his 1998 Yamaha motorcycle into the back of a 2000 Toyota pick-up truck that was stopped at a red light.  Ammirati, 49, of Selden, suffered serious injuries to both legs and was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital.  The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured.
 
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.  Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
