Police: Teen Arrested for Possessing Weapon on Centereach High School Grounds

Centereach, NY - August 17, 2018 - Suffolk County Police arrested a Centereach teen for possessing a weapon at Centereach High School on Thursday, August 16, 2018.
 
A coach at a sporting practice at Centereach High School saw a male walking on school grounds with what appeared to be a gun and called 911 at approximately 8:30 a.m. Sixth Precinct officers responded and located the teen nearby and found him to be in possession of a BB gun.
 
The teen, 18, of Centereach, was charged with Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree, a misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds, a violation. The teen is being held overnight at the Sixth Precinct for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
