Two in Custody for Attempted Murder After Stabbing Victim 11 Times, Cops Say

Hempstead, NY - August 14, 2017 - The Major Case Bureau reports the arrests of two men for Attempted Murder that occurred in Hempstead on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 6:30 pm.
 
According to detectives, defendants Kevin Fuentes Vasquez, 20, of Hempstead and Marcos Velasquez, 16, of Uniondale walked into the R & E Butcher shop located at 13 Main Street and confronted two male victim’s 17 years old in the rear of the store. Marcos Velasquez began fighting with one victim by punching him. Kevin Fuentes Vasquez produced a folding knife and stabbed the other victim 11 times to his left upper torso. 
 
Both defendants then fled on foot out the front door. Their direction was unknown. Hempstead police were called and responded to the butcher shop. The injured victim was transported in a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local hospital and treated for his injuries. There were no other injuries reported.
 
A subsequent investigation led detectives to a residence on St. Regis Place, Hempstead where they located Marco Velasquez on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 9:45 pm. He was placed into police custody without incident. Later at 11:45 pm defendant Kevin Fuentes Vasquez was located in front of a residence on Elk Court, Hempstead and placed him into police custody.
 
Both defendants are charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree. Kevin Fuentes Vasquez is additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. Both men were arraigned on Saturday, August 12, 2017 in First District Court in Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
