Suffolk County Kicks Off Healthy Corner Store Project

Mastic Beach, NY - August 14, 2014 - Suffolk County officials will join representatives from Island Harvest, Sustainable Long Island, and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County to kick off Suffolk County’s Healthy Corner Store Project, a unique trial to encourage local businesses to distribute and promote fresh, healthful foods to residents who live in communities that lack access to affordable options.
 
The event will feature discounts on 1% and skim milk, new outdoor signage promoting healthy food choices, samples of healthy foods and free lunches for children.
