Suffolk County Executive Bellone Announces Upcoming Job Hiring Events In August
Suffolk County, NY - August 13, 2018 - Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone today announced that the Suffolk County One-Stop Employment Center will host a range of employment events in mid-to-late August to assist residents in their job searches. Beginning on August 13 through August 17, the Employment Center will provide career counseling, resume preparation, and job search assistance outreach services at multiple locations throughout Suffolk County. A number of hiring events will also be held throughout August, and on September 14 at the Smithtown Library a Job Fair will be held to allow job seekers to meet with prospective employers.
“We have an obligation to ensure our unemployment continues to remain low by connecting our residents with employment opportunities,” said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. “I urge all residents to take advantage of these resources and encourage them to bring their resumes to our upcoming Job Fair in September.”

Suffolk County Department of Social Services -- HEAP Program is recruiting for Temporary Clerk Typists at $13.14/hour, Community Service Workers at $11.00/hour, and Fuel Assistance Workers at $11.00/hour.
Clerk Typists
Perform clerical functions, including input and retrieval of documents in computer programs; Perform reception functions including in person and on the telephone. Completes forms, organizes and maintains files, and completes data entry. Assist Suffolk residents with emergency requests for fuel during evening weekend and holiday hours, and perform related duties as required.
Community Service Workers
Assist Suffolk residents in applying for Energy related Social Service programs. Conduct in person and telephone interviews, Conduct home visits as needed for homebound individuals with emergency needs, to determine eligibility for Energy related benefits (applicant must use their own vehicle with mileage reimbursement available).
Fuel Assistance Workers
Assist Suffolk residents in applying for Energy related Social Service programs. Conduct in person and telephone interviews; determine eligibility for Energy related benefits; Complete forms, organize files, input and retrieve data from computer programs; perform related duties as required. Applicant must have six (6) months of experience in a position that involves substantial public contact. Applicant must have graduated from a standard senior high school or possess a high school equivalency.
