Police: Brooklyn Woman Busted for DWI in Westbury with Two Children in Vehicle

Westbury, NY - August 13, 2018 - The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Brooklyn woman for Driving While Intoxicated/Leandra’s Law that occurred on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 1:50 a.m. in Westbury.
According to police, Amanda Guzman, 25, was observed operating a Blue Nissan Altima southbound on Merchants Concourse. After conducting a car stop, it was discovered that the defendant had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath, glassy bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. The defendant was placed under arrest without incident. Guzman had her two daughters, 3 and 10 months old, in the car with her. Both children were left in the custody of a family member.
Amanda Guzman is charged with two (2) counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child Under 15-Leandra’s Law), two (2) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Intoxicated and multiple VTL infractions. She will be arraigned on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at First District Court in Hempstead.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
