State Troopers Make Drug Arrest in Smithtown

Smithtown, NY - August 12, 2014 - On 8/11/14 at 9:30 PM, a trooper from the Brentwood Barracks stopped a gray Lexus with one headlight on the southbound Sunken Meadow Parkway in Smithtown.  While interviewing the vehicle operator, Alicia Caparatta, age 29, of Northport NY, the trooper detected a strong odor of marihuana.  A search of the vehicle yielded 10 grams of marihuana, 39 grams of concentrated marihuana, and 5 narcotic pills.  
 
Ms. Caparatta and her passenger, Kenneth Taylor, age 33, of Northport, were charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance(CPCS) 4th Degree(concentrated marihuana, Class C Felony), CPCS 7th Degree(pills, A Misd.), Controlled Substance not in Original Container(violation), and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana(violation).  Ms. Caparatta was also charged with misdemeanor unlicensed operation.  Both subjects held for arraignment in Suffolk County First District Court.
