Tides Beach Property Owners’ Association Beach in Rocky Point is closed to bathing due to the finding of bacterial levels in excess of acceptable criteria.

Rocky Point, NY - August 10, 2016 - Tides Beach Property Owners’ Association Beach in Rocky Point is closed to bathing due to the finding of bacterial levels in excess of acceptable criteria.

Lake Ronkonkoma Beach, in the town of Islip, Tanner Park Beach in Copiague, Benjamin Beach in Bay Shore and Peconic Dunes County Park (Lake) in Southold, remain closed.
 
According to Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. James Tomarken, bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
